Volunteering in Classroom (18 years old and above)

Volunteers who are interested in taking on a teaching or assistant teacher role in a community language school must:

  1. Complete the Expression of Interest Form (EOI) to volunteer at IICSA Arabic School. Here: https://forms.office.com/r/KtJ2wm7evS
  2. Hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) from the Department of Human Services. If you need help applying for WWCC, e-mail admin@iicsa.sa.edu.au and we can initiate it for you. For more information about WWCC, visit the Department of Human Services HERE.
  3. Hold either a valid Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) OR a Safe Environment Training certificate (SET).
    • You will need to arrange your own RRHAN-EC certification. To do so, create an account on Plink (https://www.plink.sa.edu.au/) and enrol in the FREE, ONLINE 2-hour RRHAN-EC Fundamentals Course, as well as the RRHAN-EC Masterclass (which has an associated fee). Completing both the Fundamentals and Masterclass components meets the minimum requirement for teachers working in any mainstream school in South Australia. This certification is widely recognised and can strengthen your employment prospects and job applications.
    • Alternatively you can contact us to organise a whole-day in-person SET course organised by recognised providers.
  4. Once you completed steps 1-3 above, you will be required to complete the IICSA Arabic School Induction/Teacher’s Workshop.
  5. Lastly, you must complete the Foundation Course for Teachers run by the Community Language School of South Australia (CLSSA) within one year of teaching (FREE and Arabic School will organise this Professional Development (PD) programme)

Parental Volunteers and other Volunteers from 14 years old and above

IICSA Arabic School welcomes parents, students (who are not enrolled in IICSA Arabic School) and ex-students to volunteer at the school for activities. These volunteers must obtain a Working with Children Check if they wish to be involved with children and young people in assisting activities including but is not limited to: incursions and excursions, canteen operations, pick-up/drop-off supervisor, fund raising, and assisting in a classroom, such as reading or small group work.
